In this episode of Sports Medicine Weekly, Dr. Cole welcomes Rush physical therapist Brandon Abonce to the podcast, to talk about pickleball injuries, and how to avoid and treat them.
Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in the U.S. and is quickly becoming the sport of choice for adults over 50. The game is played both indoors and outdoors on a court that is part ping pong, part badminton, and part tennis. Unfortunately, as the popularity of Pickleball increases, so do the injuries. The high injury rate can be attributed to fact that most players tend to be older, and many of them were largely sedentary before picking up their paddles.
